As we entered we were amazed to see some brilliant and excellently designed, colourful Rangolis. These beautiful masterpieces had already made our gray matters active as we were about to see some good stuff. We entered the main building thereafter which was the common hall between the senior most classes of the school, 6th, 7th and 8th. The stage was set and the show had already started. Students stood around the room with glowing faces and evenly bright experiments. Some made tea on a foil paper which easily burns, others proved Newton’s laws. Well all we thought was that do they really need any kind of motivation?? We continued into a room we were provided, where we put on our display the experiments, models and material we had bought to display.
The program started with Miss Jyoti Dhavan, the secretary of the Rotary Club-Dehradun, and Mr. VK Sharma, President of Rotary Club Dehradun, expressing their views about the school, the children and the experiments. They praised the cleanliness maintained by the school. A competition was held amongst the students to decide the best experiment made among the wondrous ones. Students were given prizes and wishes for future from the guests who also included the Principal of our school, Mr. David Hilton.

Making Tea |
The proceedings ended with speeches and words of honors from the guests. We discussed about the experience as we traveled back to our school. It was an excellent experience and we were forced to think that the students and children there were no different from us; they are a little behind because they are poor and the poverty which kills them as a slow poison. We are the ones who can help, try make them same as us, give them a chance to survive in the world of today.
One of the teachers of the school is given a token of appreciation,by Mr. V.K. Sharma, for her hard work behind the program |
